Visiting family who live in the South Loop

Pros: The staff was cheerful, helpful
Cons: It had the smallest bathroom I've been in in the United States but the fixtures were adequate and modern.
We sought an overnight location close to our children's condo. The Holiday Inn Downtown was a good choice. It has a public parking lot adjacent so at night we could leave our car in the lot and take a short cab ride to meet the children. Driving in Chicago is the pits so ditch your car as soon as you can. During the day we made a short walk past Union Station to the French Market which we truly enjoyed. Best onion soup outside France. An easy walk further to the east would have taken us to Michigan Avenue and the lakefront.
