The property is situated beautifully on Lake Seneca with 10 acres of nicely maintained property. The staff was extremely helpful.

Honeymoon 2010

I recently went to Geneva on the Lake for my honeymoon. It was a great experience. We had the fireplace suite, which has a Murphy Bed. From other posts, it sounded like this room was going to be small, but this was not the case! The bed was very comfortable, and the fireplace was great. Staff was always friendly, and informative. It was expensive if you purchase dinner/breakfast with out a package, so get a package for this resort! The wine was great, and the views were better! Great deal!

Geneva On the Lake

A stunning, amazing gem at the north end of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York.  Built in 1914 and modeled after a villa in Italy, this resort offers 29 suites and studios. A huge, immaculately tended garden and yard sits right on the edge of the lake. Just a few of the included amenities are volleyball, an outdoor pool, croquet, bikes (they have about 8 or 10 that you can just borrow), and 6 different kinds of boats - again, that you can just borrow! There is a "fitness room", which is nothing more than 2 machines in an old, torn up suite. But with all the other stuff offered, it really is something you can easily pass up with no problem. We had a studio, which was a room with a tiny kitchen and a Murphy bed. When you walk in there is a letter of welcome on the table and a complimentary bottle of regional wine in the fridge. You are then given a turn down service which includes a chocolate on the pillow and a little note that says "sweet dreams". aww. Everyone working was so incredibly nice and pleasant, I was kicking myself for not booking a longer stay. Plus, a ton of celebrities have stayed there throughout the years, like Winton Marsalis, Bill Cosby, and the Clintons. How cool is that.

worth every penny

This hotel was very very very pricy but it was worth every penny. I spent two of the best nights there. The staff are all friendly and say hi to you every time they pass. The view is breathtaking and the food was gourmet at its finest. The rooms are beautiful and very very spacious. I cannot wait to go back.

Very Lovely

My husband and I stayed at this lovely facility for two nights early in October. It was built around the turn of the century to resemble the beautiful villas overlooking the famed Italian Lakes. More recently it has been divided into a number of tastefully decorated (in a traditional style) apartment like suites. Ours had two bedrooms, one bath, a full kitchen and a large living room overlooking the gardens, pool and Lake Geneva. The public rooms (dining room, bar etc.) have gorgeous detail with classically inspired pillars, moldings and other touches that were part of the original design. The manager, Bill Schickel, was charming and very helpful in suggesting day time activities and alternative places to eat. The candlelit dinner in the hotel's restaurant was fine. Our waitress was experienced and the food was uninspired, but very good.¿

Enjoyable 2 night stay¿

For our 30th anniversary we splurged and spent 2 nights at Geneva on the Lake. We had a lovely suite with living room, kitchen, bedroom, and full bath with lovely WASPy furniture overlooking the gardens and lake. The grounds and pool were immaculate, and we took a relaxing sunfish sail on Seneca Lake. The house and meal staff were polite and friendly, what you'd expect in upstate NY. Our dinner and breakfast meals were tasty and fresh. Maybe a bit pricey, but certainly a 5 star hotel which is quiet and just short hop to fine vineyards. We highly recommend.

Lovely little gem in the Finger Lakes region¿¿

i was very impressed with Geneva on the Lake, even though we were there during the off-season. Built in 1914 as a private home modeled after an Italian villa, this 29 room resort has stunning views of Seneca Lake as well as the immaculately groomed grounds complete with lovely sculptures scattered throughout. Many, many amenities are provided complimentary, such as bikes, croquet, volleyball, and 6 kinds of boats. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and a lovely restaurant with terrace seating. Sadly, November in upstate New York being what it is, along with our very short stay, did not allow for us to take advantage of any of these things. The staff was lovely and very helpful, they pointed out the parlour with all of the DVD's available to borrow, had a complimentary bottle of regional wine chilling in the fridge along with a basket of fruit (we had a studio) and I loved the turndown service that included a chocolate on the pillow with a little note that said "sweet dreams". How charming. I would love to check this place out again during the summer months as I think it would be the perfect vacation getaway

Extreamly Enjoyable¿¿

We were very hesitant about booking this hotel for our July fourth vacation weekend after reading what other reviews had to say about this hotel. However, my parents had stayed here in 2006 and had really enjoyed it. I am so happy that we chose to check it out for ourselves. We decided to go on this trip last minute and they were the only hotel with availability. If you are looking for a modern hotel, this is not your place. The views are unbelievable, the grounds immaculate and the scenery stunning. The room itself was a pleasant surprise, we had a suite with a murphy bed, and, it was cute and quaint (by this I do not mean small). Maybe a little expensive for what we got but not outrageous (we have spent a lot more on accommodations and get a lot less). The only negative I can point out is that our waitress for dinner was absolutely terrible and we couldn't escape her for breakfast the next morning or two. The other staff, however, was great (the bellman was an extremely polite, talkative young man), the owner greeted us and showed us to an amazing table in the dining room. Dinner was great (not terrific), Sunday brunch buffet was just okay. All in all we had an amazing time and I couldn't wait to come back and write a review after what I had read on here before we left. Go, you will love it!!!

Geneva on the Lake

Recently, we stayed at Geneva on the Lake for a weekend. While the hotel grounds and restaurant were top notch, I found the size and type of the room to be completely unacceptable. The room were were given, which I believe was marketed as a spacious and well appointed room turned out to me a small dorm room with a pull down bed. Considering the hotel was billed as a four diamond inn by AAA and considering the price, I could not honestly ever want to go back there again.
