The staff was very helpful. Just a few things to know... bathrooms are not in the rooms. They are in the hallway and shared amongst the patrons. My kids aged 11 and 7 got a kick out of this bathroom situation. Morning breakfast was just enough to get us going. Location is right near ferry and beach. They provide beach chairs so don’t bother bringing your own. No refrigerator so bring a cooler

Hello and thank you for staying at Clegg's Hotel. We agree to all, but do not bring a cooler as they are not permitted at the hotel or on the beach. If a refrigerator is a must, best to rent a Suite which has one in the room. Or use the small communal fridge in the office. Hope you return again soon.

More of a youth hostel than a hotel

Have low expectations and you'll be fine. This isn't a hotel for luxury and relaxation -- it's more of a place to sleep if you've missed the last ferry to the mainland. If you've ever spent a night in a youth hostel, you'll feel comfortable.

Hello. Thank you for your review. In case you were not aware, this would have been a better fit for your needs. A Suite with Water Views and a Private Bathroom, Air conditioning, Microwave, Refrigerator, Ceiling fan. All come complementary with use of free WiFi, A bottle of water, use of bicycles, beach chairs & umbrellas and a continental breakfast. Please stay with us again in a Suite, we know this time it will be a better experience.

Misleading website

Pros: Price. Free beach chairs, umbrella, bikes.
Cons: A small TV in each room, or at least wifi so I could watch something on my computer late at night.
Location: Absolutely beautiful beach/town. Had a great time, despite the room.
I wasn't expecting much, even for this price. But the photo on the website is very misleading--that's the beach on the other side of the island, not the view out the main door of the hotel. Ceiling in room had water damage, possibly mold. Very noisy late at night from bars on the street below, even with AC. Had to wait to get into shared bathrooms, could barely work the locks. Had to plunge the toilet twice, and not from my own use! Breakfast was only bagels, coffee, oj, no decaf or tea. Wifi didn't work in rooms. Pluses = convenience (right at ferry). Free beach chairs, umbrellas and bikes. Kids running front office were nice, trying their best. And no rooms in Fire Island come cheaper. Just can't imagine paying full price on the weekend.
