Said there was valet parking but wasn't offered it. No menu or information on hotel in the room, didnt know how to call roim service had to walk to the bar to order dinner. When they brought my food they did not bring silverware. No ice or vending machines

Wasted Trip

This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever encountered. The room was not clean. There was mold around the base of the toilet. The coffee maker still had the previous persons coffee inside it. There was a window unit air conditioner that smelled awful! The floor in the entry wa not swept during the three days we were there! DO NOT waste your time and money!

Disappointing

Pros: It is a charming historic building.
Cons: Customer service and cleanliness of hallways. They definitely need more helpful staff. They also need to update their website for #persons/room.
Location: Great location! Lots of restaurants nearby.
I was looking forward to this charming hotel. Some staff was helpful and some was not. We had a reservation based on website that would accommodate 3 persons, advertised as a king bed with either a pull out sofa or a roll away bed, neither of which were available. They told us since we booked thru Travelocity that the website was wrong. However, their own website read the same way. We had one staff member which was very helpful, others which had no power to do anything about a complaint and were less than friendly. The first night, the concierge moved us to a double queen room to accommodate our 3 people. The second night, after asking for the same room since the king room couldn't accommodate 3 persons, a different person had to get permission to move us. Then they gave us the room but didn't clean it, make the beds or even provide fresh towels. Their staff (with the exception of one gentleman) was not helpful, has no power to make decisions on their own, and there was a lack of customer service. The accommodations were very comfortable, but the facility is tired as a whole. There was a roll that was left lying on the stairs half eaten for the two nights of our stay. We travel to St. Louis frequently to visit relatives, but unfortunately we will not be staying here again.

I was in England again!

Pros: Historic
Cons: Don't close the restaurant on a holiday weekend.
Location: Lovely area with a lot of sidewalk cafes.
Very quaint, lovely and reminiscent of being in England - which included the squeaky stairs!

Delightful old style charm hotel downtown clayton

Pros: Clean, cozy, beautiful, quiet. Near to a wonderful park for walking, three different cafes within a block, good restaurants also in walking distance.
Cons: Better lighting at the bedside for "in bed reading of my nightly novel."
Location: Downtown Clayton, near St Louis, MO. Shaw park a mere 2 blocks away for beautiful towering trees and pathways to wander, two great coffee houses etc
This being my third stay at 7 Gables Inn, each time has been more special than the previous. From courteous staff to elegant yet affordable room, close access to several wonderful cafes, walking distance to the expansive Shaw Park... I cherish each stay at this wonderful Inn. I felt pampered in a quiet way, the privacy and comfort of my room was delightful. I will stay there many times in the future, this much I can guarantee.

Loved my experience staying here. The staff was extremely attentive as well as beyond friendly. The location was prime in Clayton, minutes from everything.

Great Location

Wonderful, small inn quite unlike chain hotel/motels.  Inner courtyard a nice change from the pool or gym as a central location for guests.  Attached Irish Bar a good addition for a nightcap and serves a very nice complimentary breakfast.

amazing place!!

This is the most amazing boutique hotel---with amazing service and pleasant people. The rooms are very comfortable and the beds are most comfortable. The afternoon cookies are fabulous! I will be back soon!!!!

Seven Gables Inn--Charmer

Wonderful experience at a longtime charmer.  The Seven Gables Inn obviously has a number of repeat customers and the Inn added two more to that list with my wife and me.  (NOTE: There are no elevators and the stairs are steep and narrow.)
