Our family enjoyed having a couple of options for dining that would accommodate children and please adults as well. We experienced exceptional service in The Dining Room for breakfast and dinner. Wiskers is much more laid back and casual offering great drink selection and good food, with equally great service. For a hotel that is 90 years old the building and amenities are in great shape, offering several loung areas for reading, multiple ballrooms, and a small but well appointed fitness room with state of the art cardio equipment. The room was standard size with nice furnishings and well decorated. The bathroom did offer a nice size tub for soaking after long day of exploring the campus and catching a few games. The Inn is very easy to get in and out of with plenty of parking options close, which in State College is a huge plus. It is within walking distance to many of the activities on campus and shopping and dining options are only a short walk. Conveniently The Lion Shrine is steps away as well as Rec Hall. I would recommend this property as the history and architecture are a throw back to the past, while bringing technology into the fold and wrapping it in a unique package.

The complimentary valet service was a plus. They had a free shuttle, which we used several times daily. The drivers were polite and very friendly.

Can't beat the historic feel and location, with all the amenities of a modern hotel. Liked being able to park in the five story garage nearby.

Lovely and relaxing

Pros: The lobby and circular lobby are wonderful spaces to relax....enjoy a fireplace.
Location: This facility is on the Penn State Campus across the street from Rec Hall. You are close to everything Penn State.
Things were hectic upon our arrival but the front desk staff was very calm, professional, efficient. You notice the apples by the door for your enjoyment and the fireplace as you head to your room. The room is very nice with lots of connections for your various devices. Everything was clean and comfortable. We found ourselves just sitting at times in the circular room that connects the lobby with access to rooms, elevators, and eateries with a huge decorated Christmas tree, just relaxing as we waited for others. We had meals at both Whiskers and the Dining room. The only problem was not being able to turn the TV on. We contacted the front desk and within 5 minutes we had someone there to correct the problem. Problem solved. It was a nice treat on a busy Penn State volleyball weekend.

One of the world's great hotels

Pros: The staff
Cons: Place bath soap in the bath's soap dish, not at the sink.
Location: The university is bursting with things to see and do!
Having stayed in many great and famous hotels around the world, I always calibrate excellence by referring to the NLI staff. Well selected, well trained, well managed, they go about their tasks with a quiet ease. It's the staff that makes the hotel.
