We had a wonderful time! Could have stayed on the roof the whole trip, sooo relaxing! Dolly & Rommell were very helpful😀 If you don't like cats, not the place for you though. The cats were very friendly (lucky we're not allergic to cats). We hope to go back to Villa Herencia soon!

Experience Old San Juan

Pros: We loved the convenience of the roof-top terrace as a relaxing place to start and finish our days of adventure. The staff is super helpful.
Cons: The cold breakfast is ample and tasty, however, if you visit for very long it can become boring.
Location: Within blocks are the historic San Juan Cathedral, several small plazas, the San Juan Gate and walkways along the San Juan outer walls.
This is a very nice small boutique hotel in a super location to experience Old San Juan. A good part of the charm is the city itself loaded with historical sites, great eateries, shops and bars and the Villa Herencia is right in the middle of all this. Not only is a car not needed but is probably a handicap and unnecessary expense as parking and driving the old city streets is a challenge. We loved the many plazas, street vendors, and concentration of things to do that made every venture from the hotel an experience. Another advantage is that the hotel and surrounding restaurants and bars are far enough away from the pier so as not to be over-run by cruise patrons.

Outstanding location and beautiful hotel

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, exellent location
rare find in terms of character and location. some pictures are truly romantic. in case of late arrival ( like we had ) there were some difficulties with the check in. also had some minor inconveniences with the hot water not to be on until morning staff arrival. Otherwise beautiful place for people that appreciate the character more that Sheraton-style conveniences.

This is a quirky, European style hotel, close to everything in Old San Juan.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet
We had a bit of trouble getting into the hotel, since our plane arrived late, and they had already closed for the night. But we did get into our room, and laughed when we did. The room had a high ceiling, with a wonderful chandelier, but the bathroom was four steps up to the side of the room. It was charmingly strange. The hotel itself was lovely, full of old furniture and new paintings. Breakfast was very good, served in a lovely dining room. There was a fountain in the open passageway between rooms, but it was shut off at night, so there was no bother. Upstairs, the rooms were off a fairly large patio, where you could sun, or just sit and read in the open air. I loved that it was so quiet around the hotel, but we were just two blocks away from the rush and activity of the old town, and less than a block from the old city walls. I loved the hotel, and would stay again, and recommend my friends go there, too.

Loved it so much I almost want to keep it secret!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet
This is a great gem. We loved it. I almost don't want the word to get out so that it will be available for us next year! When you walk in, you are greeted by a fountain in the indoor/outdoor courtyard. The charm continues throughout each room. The staff is tremendous - friendly, helpful and eager to please. We enjoyed the included breakfast. Fairly simple but it totally hit the spot. This is the perfect stay for someone/couple who likes a unique room in a small boutique hotel. If you want a larger hotel with hundreds of rooms and a casino, then this is not a good choice for you.

Charming with unique touches

My husband and I stayed here one night in February after a cruise. We wanted to stay in San Juan for a couple of days. This place is located in Old San Juan so the location is perfect. It is very quaint. You kind of get a bed and breakfast feel which is what we really like. It is a two story night room hotel. Each room is decorated differently with special and unique touches selected by the owners. They offer a continental breakfast. I especially enjoy the fountain in the courtyard and the semi-private terrace out-side of our room. The only drawbacks were that is no valet service (which really wasn't a big deal since it was only two stories) and you had to let the hot water run for a few minutes before it heated.

Wonderful, Charming Place

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, great location
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy, no phone in room
It's beautiful. Lots of art. Each room is different. Good continental breakfast and great coffee available free of charge. My room opened out to the roof through double doors. No real services, though. In fact, no staff are on the premises from about 10 p.m. until breakfast at about 8:20 a.m. Next door to El Convento, which helped me arrange a tour to El Yunque.
