Not worth the high rates.....

Pros: The proximity and easy access to the beach and local shops and restaurant/bars.
Cons: Updating the rooms into this century would be nice, and cleaning the place up a bit.
Location: Folly Beach is a typical "beach town." Loaded with beach shops and good restaurants with lots of outdoor seating and live music.
This place is not worth the high rates that are charged. The hotel itself, as well as the rooms are very outdated and are in need of improvements badly. The only modern item in our room was the flat screen tv. When we first opened the door we were greeted by a very strong smell that I guess could be described as "musty." The sheets and bedspread seemed as though they have been around since the 70's. The owner and manager do not have the most friendly and welcoming attitude, but the owner was helpful when he helped us out by giving us large trash bags for our car seats when I left my sun roof open all night and it rained. The manager is kind of creepy to be honest. The pool area was nice. On a positive note, the hotel is one block back from the beach with a public beach access right across the street. It is also right down the road from the main strip and there is actually a nice bar/restaurant (Loggerheads) just a few minute away on the corner. If the rates weren't so high I wouldn't have minded the inconveniences, but....
