We got there on time for the check-in and the receptionist her name was Olivia was very helpful very educated, she explained us all about the amenities about the hotel then she help me to complete my check-in. She asked me what would I like to get in terms of my room I was able to choose a first floor with two beds, the room, was great and quiet for the most part everything looked clean and close to all the restaurants. I will definitely come back to this property.

Hotel Riu Lupita is very bad place, rooms full of mold, smelly and small. The hotel is marked as 5 stars but in reality the hotel doesn’t cover 2 stars. The pictures on line are different then in reality. In order to get the beach you need to take the oldest bus and drive for 15 minutes every day to reach beach. It’s too far away from the main beach and buses don’t have air conditioning. They are presenting their hotels in the best light but in reality it’s Nothing. When we change our flights, the agency did not make correction of our flights and we didn’t have shuttle/ transportation from hotel to the aero port. We informed them on time about the change and in the morning, they didn’t send the driver in the morning but in the afternoon. Communication with them through emails and phone is not on time. When you need them, you can’t reach them. We needed to take taxi and paid a lot to catch our flight. We wouldn’t recommend this place and agency to anybody. It’s wasting your money and time in reality. We are not planning to use them in the future.

Great resort for families with shuttle to beach club and shopping, nightly entertainment. We had a clean, spacious and modern room. Loved the little towel animals left on the bed. Reception staff were very helpful, especially Xabi who helped with WiFi and Covid testing. Buffet food was average but plenty of choice. Pool bar is convenient and the pool towel service and sun umbrellas make it a great place to spend the day. Had a very pleasant week and would stay here again. But don’t expect 5-star! Nice amenities and friendly staff but food quality and cocktails were more like a 3-star.

Reasonable price close to town and FANTASTIC beach

Pros: The beach has a buffet, bar, pool, and bathroom. Everything you need with out being tacky and expensive like Riu Palace next door. Overall, great time
Cons: Bed is hard; ask for a mattress pad. Drinks are watered down. Rooms are small. Not enough food choice between 3pm and 7pm. Dinner served at 7pm.
Location: Take the bus into Playa del Carmen and visit Xaman-Ha ruins. Visit Mayan ruins. Enjoy the beautiful aqua ocean and visit a cenote. Snorkel w/ turtles!
Riu Lupita is a small hotel with only 200 or so rooms. It is not fancy but clean and well maintained. We enjoyed being in the jungle. We hardly heard any English which made our vacation feel even further from home. Lots of people from South America and Europe. We were some of the only Americans. (It was obvious from our modest swimsuits and pale skin.) The hotel has three pools (four if you include the children's pool). Nightlife was so-so; except Mayan night was really entertaining--great costumes and cool dances. Go with medium to low expectations, and you'll have a great time. This is not a five star resort but our group of two couples really enjoyed ourselves. This hotel is an excellent value. We enjoyed the overall layout of the hotel. Also, the bus, while not fancy, was always on time (on the half hour). We loved that it could drop us off at downtown Playa del Carmen, so you are not trapped at the hotel. Also, right near the bus stop are Xaman-Ha Mayan ruins that are really interesting to see. They are right along the wall, just keep walking down the path. They are free and you can walk all over them. The beach club is amazing. We just packed a bag, hopped on the bus, and relaxed. The hotel was full when we were there, and we never had too much trouble getting lounge chairs for four people. The beach club had fun activities like water aerobics and volleyball. We also rented free boogie boards one afternoon from Riu Palace. We used Scuba Caribe to snorkel; it was fun!

It was ok

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
The hotel was an all inclusive. The rooms, food and drinks were average, nothing really great. This would be a good budget hotel. Internet access was only available in the lobby.

WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE

Pros: Quiet
Cons: Nothing close, Poor breakfast, everthing is horrible
FIRST AND LAST TIME I WILL STAY AT THE RIU LUPITA.ARRIVED A LITTLE BIT EARLY STAFF BOOKED ME A ROOM WITH NO RUNNING WATER.STAFF KNEW THERE WAS NO WATER BUT STILL SENT ME THERE. FOOD WAS HORRIBLE OLD SNACKS NOT MUCH VARIETY. BEDS WERE HARD AIR MADE LOTS OF NOISE.THIS WAS WORST THAN A MOTEL 6 .LOTS ANIMALS RUNNING AROUND THEY LOOKED LIKE SKUNKS.ENTERTAINTMENT WAS BORING.WENT TO THE OTHER THREE RIUS LITTLE BIT BETTER FOOD BUT BUS DOES NOT LEAVE YOU CLOSE.WISH I GOT MY MONEY BACK.DO NOT BE FOOLED DO NOT STAY HERE.CANCUN RIUS ARE MUCH BETTER NEAR THE BEACH.THIS RIU IS NOT BEACH FRONT .IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.IT LEFT ME HOORIBLE MEMORIES.

Hotel met the expectation

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
Hotel was selected because out the crowded main road. Easily to reach other place even by foot ( 20 minutes walk was nice ). So it was quiet all the hours of the day. Shuttle bus easily available to get downtown. Also the service to rend motorcycle and bycicle was and added value
