During Mardi Gras weekend, my husband and I chose to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Convention Center. Initially, we felt safe and welcomed, so we extended our stay another night. However, upon returning from exploring the city, we discovered that our bags had been opened and valuable items, including a Nintendo game console, Apple headphones, and gold jewelry, had been stolen.
We immediately reported the theft to the hotel staff, who were polite but didn't seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation. After lots of follow-ups on our part, they investigated and found that someone outside of us and the cleaning staff, had accessed our room with a key card. We had to involve the police and file another report to expedite the process.
Despite our efforts, more than a week has passed without any communication or resolution from the hotel. This lack of accountability has left us VERY disappointed. Although the hotel initially appeared satisfactory, this experience has left a negative impression. We sincerely hope they enhance their security measures and response procedures for future incidents. Until then, we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.
